Weeds with potential

Weeds with potential
Not foxglove, it's comfrey.

This week has been all about seed babies and feeling a little bit rough. I went to the allotment with my brother to claim my shed and found a big bit of corrugated tubing which is now a hand tool holder. I did some light weeding and raised up the fleece a little so it was not sitting directly on the growing onions. All of the onions and garlic have sprouted, there are no carrot or beet babies yet though.

My shed with the salvaged tubing to store tools and things.

The mystery tree has come to life a bit. The current theory is that it might be an apple, but still no confidence. The plot neighbours have no clue about my mystery fruit even though the tree is on the shared boundary and they have been there three years. Also, more experienced allotment and gardening folks will have already noticed that my the foxgloves are not foxgloves. For the most part the things that I originally identified as foxgloves are comfrey. I am keeping all of the stuff around the bottoms of the trees, and I do have some foxglove seeds that I may plant. You can make tea/fertiliser with comfrey I believe, will have to research that. I think they are weeds with potential!

Slightly velvety new leaves on the mystery tree.

Spend: £38.69 (shed)
Time at the plot: 1 hour

Who else has had plot mysteries and mis-identifications? Any thoughts on the tree?
